O you who extol the lord of lofty heights,
O you who sends plentiful rain from on high
You have attained your wishes; so alight in a fertile valley.
You have attained your wish, so descend upon a fertile valley
O you who stand among the dwellings of al-Liwa,
O you who stands between the pleasures of desire
You have opened the beloved’s door with love poems.
You have opened the door of the beloved with the gazelles
O cupbearer to the boon companion, enough for me is what
O you who gives drink to the regretful, it suffices me
The poet, my discerning cupbearer, repeats.
What the poet repeats, the pourer of the pleasant drink
O poets of the age, may you be rewarded
O poets of the age, you have been rewarded
With good for your kindness—say so, O orator.
With good for kindness, say O orator
