I have fallen into bewilderment and worry,
I am in confusion and worry,
Between Egypt and Fahmi.
Between Egypt and my understanding.
She cries out with a captive's cry:
This one calls out in distress,
Remedy my plight and heal my sickness.
Seeking respite from my condition and cure for my illness.
And he makes a dear friend's appeal,
While that one hopes for an empty hope,
Whose favors rain down upon me:
With harmful intentions towards me.
Let her call for whatever she calls for,
Let it call out whatever it calls out,
And keep to my plan and my way.
And be steadfast in my path and my way.
For peace is a lesson, and both have learned
For peace is a lesson, and I have learned
How the aftermath of peace burns.
The harms of peace, how it protects.
O Lord, by the Virgin's son, protect me,
O Lord, by the Virgin's son, give me strength
And weigh my standing and purify my name.
And weigh my status and purify my name.
For if I stay loyal to my friend,
For if I justify my emptiness,
I betray, without doubt, the best of mothers.
I have undoubtedly disobeyed the best of mothers.
