At your door O family of Ruzzik, there is a poet

Content with your friendship and greeting

Yet the gatekeeper turned him away in ignorance of his face

As he once turned away Amr in his poverty

I longed for you until when I drew near

You kept your distance and there was but a handspan between us

And dawn welcoming me were yearning for me

How Strange then that Badr spurned my company

Even Husain, the master of my doctrine

Turned his face from me as if I were Shimr

And time increased over me the stinginess of Muhammad

Even though he is an ocean in every fingertip

Not all are swordsmen in the fray like Al-Husam

Nor all lands in their majesty like Egypt

But honor parted from them, spurning

One to whom straw and gold were equal
