مِن لي بِساقٍ أَغيَدٍ

عَذارُهُ قَد سَرَحا

Who will lend me a slender leg

Its perfume unleashed

كَأَنَّهُ بَدرُ دُجىً

في كَفِّهِ شَمسُ ضُحى

Like a full moon in the darkness

With the rising sun in its palm

ما زِلتُ مِن مُدامِهِ

مُغتَبِقاً مُصطَبِحا

I have not ceased being drunk

From its wine since early morn

حَتّى غَدَوتُ لا أَرى

النَدمانَ إِلّا شَبَحا

Until I can no longer see

Regret except as a specter

وَقَد عَصَيتُ في الهَوى

مَن لامَ فيهِ وَلَحا

And I have disobeyed in love

Those who blame and denounce

يا قَلبُ كَم تَذكُرُهُ

لا بارَحَتكَ البُرَحا

Oh heart, how you remember him

When will he leave your thoughts?

هَذا الَّذي تَعشَقُهُ

كَم قَلبُ صَبٍّ جُرحا

The one whom you passionately love

How many ardent hearts has he wounded?

يا صاح يا صاح اِسقِني

مِن راحَتَيهِ القَدَحا

Oh friend, oh friend, pour me a drink

From the palm of his hands

وَاِغتَنِمِ العَيشَ فَما

تُبقي اللَيالي فَرَحا

And seize life's pleasures

Before the nights flee away

كَأَنَّما البَدرُ وَقَد

لاحَ لَنا مُتَّضِحا

As if the full moon has shone

Radiantly upon us

وَجهُ مُجيرِ الدينِ

مَولانا إِذا ما مُدِحا

The face of my master and guardian

Whenever he is praised
