عَفا أَمَجُّ مِن أَهلِهِ فالمُشَلّلُ

إِلى البَحرِ لَم يأهَل لَهُ بَعدُ مَنزِلُ

He parted more generously than his family

Towards the sea, where he hadn't yet a dwelling

فَأجزاعُ كَفتٍ فاللوى فَقَراضِمٌ

تَناجى بلَيلٍ أَهلُهُ فَتَحَمَّلوا

So ax shafts, tents and broken bones

Converse at night to fulfill what they've undertaken
