O home of my joy, in my sadness and grief,

I bid you farewell, from ruin and decline.

Whenever the miser feels safe in you,

You become, because of me, anxious and wary.

I take no pleasure in long associations,

Nor do I seek any but short relationships.

In life I have no asset to extend for it

Except visiting settlements and no camels.

How many she-camels have I hamstrung

At the first signs of old age or sickness.
