1. حَيِّ الدِيارَ بِمُنشِدٍ فالمُنتَضى

    فالهَضبِ هَضبِ رَواوَتَينِ إِلى لأى

    Oh dwellings of the past, greet them with a singer

    Towards the two slopes of Ra`wah I set my course

  2. لَعِبَ الزَمانُ بِها فَغَيَّرَ رَسمَها

    وَخَريقُهُ يُغتالُ مِن قَبلِ الصَبا

    Time has played with them, changing their beauty

    Its ruins waylaid by the morning breeze

  3. فَكأَنَّها بَلِيَت وَجوهُ عِراصِها

    فَبَكَيتُ مِن جَزَعٍ لما كَشَفَ البِلى

    As if their proud faces have withered over time

    I weep in agony at their decay laid bare
