1. وَيَعلَمُ الضَيفُ إِمّا ساقَهُ صَرَدٌ

    أَو لَيلَةٌ مِن مُحاقِ الشَهرِ دُعبوبُ

    And the guest will know—if biting cold should drive him,

    or a pitch-dark night in the moon’s dark phase.
