وَصاحَت مَساميرُ الرِحالِ وَكُلِّفَت
عَلى الجَهدِ بالموماةِ سَيراً مُطَحطَحا
The nails of the traveling sandals screeched and were commanded
With great toil by fate to crawl exhausted
كَما صاحَ سِربٌ مِن عَصافيرِ صَيفَةٍ
تَواعَدنَ كَرماً بالسَراةِ مُمَزَّحا
As a flock of summer birds screamed
That had promised a vineyard in the morning merrily
