1. تُناطُ حَمائِلُ الهِنديِّ مِنهُ

    بِعاتِق لا أَلَفَّ وَلا ضَئيلِ

    The burdens of the Indian are bound

    Upon a neck neither familiar nor frail

  2. وَلَكِن تَستَقِلُّ بِهِ قِواهُ

    عَلى ماضٍ بِقائِمِهِ نَبيلِ

    But rather his strength bears them

    Upon a noble past with its pillars
