From the house of Yāridah, a gallant man has died and come to rest
in a grave—the Merciful’s favor poured forth upon him.
He left us the perishing world and journeyed toward
a Throne where pardon for the righteous stands inscribed.
He passed into a garden where bliss is sweet,
while a mourning woman’s torrent-like tears are cherished.
So he penned a line as a chronogram, signifying by it:
“By God’s mercy, Faḍl Allāh goes accompanied.”
