هَذهْ فَريدةُ آلِ زالقةِ الَّتي

أَصلى القُلوبَ فِراقُها نارَ الغَضى

This is Farida of the Zalaqa family, whose

Parting has set ablaze in hearts the fire of sorrow.

هِيَ زَوجةُ العَبسيِّ ابراهيمَ قَد

لَحِقَت بِهِ عجلاً كَما شاءَ القَضا

She is the wife of Ibrahim Al-Absi, and hastened

To join him, as was fated.

قَد جاوَرَتهُ في الحياةِ وَفي الرَدى

فَوفَت لَهُ حَقَّ الوِدادِ كَما اِقتَضى

She dwelled with him in life and in death alike,

Fulfilling the duty of affection as was meet.

وَهُناكَ وافتهُ مَلائكةُ العُلى

تَهديهِ تاريخَ التَحيةِ وَالرِضى

And there the angels on high greeted them,

Bearing the chronicle of salutation and contentment.
