هَذهْ كَريمةُ آلِ عَكَّاوي مَضَت

هَذهْ كَريمةُ آلِ عَكَّاوي مَضَت

أَسَفاً فَأَجرَت كُلَّ عَينٍ بِالدَّمِ

أَسَفاً فَأَجرَت كُلَّ عَينٍ بِالدَّمِ

This noble lady of the Akkawi family has departed,

Alas, making every eye weep blood.

لَحِقَت بِطَنُّوسَ ابنِ نَصرٍ قَرينَها

لَحِقَت بِطَنُّوسَ ابنِ نَصرٍ قَرينَها

فَتجاورا بِحِمَى النَّعيمِ الأَعظَمِ

فَتجاورا بِحِمَى النَّعيمِ الأَعظَمِ

She joined Tannus ibn Nasr, her consort,

And the two dwell side by side in the shelter of supreme bliss.

قَد فارَقَت هَذي الحَياةَ وَغادَرَت

قَد فارَقَت هَذي الحَياةَ وَغادَرَت

في النّاسِ ذِكرَ فضائلٍ لَم تُكتَمِ

في النّاسِ ذِكرَ فضائلٍ لَم تُكتَمِ

She has left this life and left behind

Among the people the memory of virtues that could not be hidden.

وَلِأَجلِها كَتبَ المُؤرِّخُ أَسطُراً

وَلِأَجلِها كَتبَ المُؤرِّخُ أَسطُراً

يُهدى بِها بُشرى الخَلاصِ لِمريَمِ

يُهدى بِها بُشرى الخَلاصِ لِمريَمِ

For her sake, the chronicler wrote lines

Through which glad tidings of salvation are offered to Maryam.
