For Khalil Basila stands a tomb of honor,
Upon which the mercies of the Most Merciful have been poured.
A branch that the wind of death has broken;
Indeed, winds are breakers of branches.
Alas for a mother struck by his calamity:
She became a companion of sorrows over him.
She wrote a verse to mark his date, saying in it:
“May my tears water you, O slender bān branch.”
