وبأيمن الوادي بمتعلج النقا

ظبي تبطن بطن وادي الأيمن

In the valley's right side, with winding paths

A gazelle takes cover in the valley's belly

احفيته العتبى فمال بعطفه

كبراً وتاه يريث الخطو الوني

I protected her from blame, so she inclined

With pride and got lost, slowly stepping

اكفف سهامك عن مقاتل اعزل

من قال يا شاكي السلاح لك ارمني

Hold back your arrows from an unarmed fighter

Who said "O complainer, the weapon's for you, shoot me!"

ولقد كتمت صبابتي وبنو الهوى

ما بين كاتم صبوة او معلن

My youth and the lovers have indeed concealed

What's between a secretive youth or one who reveals

وعلمت أن هوى الاحبة كله

حسن واحسنه هواي بمحسن

And I knew that the love of loved ones, all of it

Is beautiful, and its most beautiful is my love for the beauty

تمَّ العذار بخده في رفرف

خضر يرفرف فوقه الورد الجني

The excuse was completed by his cheek in a flutter

Of green, above which the pink rose fluttered

غرثان يرتضع العيون سوادها

حتى ترعرع فيه طفل السوسن

Two pupils suckling the blackness of their eyes

Until the lily's babe bubbled in it
