Why do you insist on helping one so ungrateful?

Leave him be, bowed under his own burdens.

Once, lovers longed for his carefree days,

I beg of God to save you from his state!

Hand in hand, time passes through you both -

So seek the height of all your hopes.

He mocks your fortune with glee.

Oh, what a grievous, pitiful gloat!
