من دلّ عينيك ان القلب محتبلُ

يا دولة الصبّ إِن دالت له الدول

Your eyes revealed that my heart is smitten,

O youth of passion, if fate turns to him,

قالوا بعينيك يا عين المها حول

فقلت مه حَيلٌ في العين لا حول

They said about your eyes, O eye of beauty, surround,

So I said, no skill in the eye, no surround,

ناديت اللَه يا نجلاء مقلته

كفي سهامك لا تفتك بنا المقل

I called on God, O bright faced, his destiny,

Enough of your arrows, do not destroy us, the destined,

جاز الحبالة ينحو البان منفلتاً

ظبيٌ تعرض بالاجفان يحتبلُ

Love has crossed, the loved one wanders unrestrained,

A gazelle displays with eyelids that smite,

اذا تكفَّى كخوط البان منعطفاً

كادت لتنخزل الاوراك والكفل

When he sways like the loved one's wavy hair,

His hips almost slipped down and his anklet,

مهفهف مرح بالحسن متشحٌ

باللطف متَّزرٌ بالظرف مشتمل

Flirtatious, cheerful with beauty, dressed

With charm, clothed with grace, perfect,

فدىً لعينيك يا بدر السماء معا

ما تحمل النيب او ما تحتوي الكللُ

May I ransom you, O full moon of the sky together,

It does not carry prophecy or contain a writ,

اوصلت شرب غبوقي فيك مصطبحي

حتى كأنيَ فيك الشارب الثملُ

I reached the drinking of my passion in you illuminating,

As if I am in you the drunk overwhelmed,

يا حامل المرشف المعسول لي قدحاً

كأن ريقته الاسفنط والعسلُ

O bearer of the sweetened goblet, pour me

As if its saliva, myrrh and honey,

لم أدر حين اتاح اللَه حبك لي

هل قادني املٌ ام ساقني اجلُ

I do not know, when God allowed your love to me,

Did a hope lead me or did fate make me meet,

الأري ريقك ام مشمول سارية

كأن رياك فيها العنبر الشملُ

Do I see your saliva or perfumed drink,

As if its scent frankincense melted,

حملتني ثقل ما لو حمّلته يد

صم الجبال لخفت فهي تنتقلُ

It burdened me, if a hand carried its weight,

It would make mountains deaf, yet it moves easily,

مالي اعللُ عينا كلها سهدٌ

بقربكم وفؤاداً كله وجل

Why do I not blame an eye, all sleepy,

Being near you and a heart completely anxious,

فيا رعى اللَه اياما كأنكم

ورد الخدود بها والملتقى قبل

So may God protect days as if you are

Rose cheeks through them and the meeting before,

اخفي هواكم ويبديهِ الحنين لكم

وكيف تخفي الحنين الانيق البزل

Hide your love and yearning for you reveals it,

How can subtle, eloquent yearning be hidden,

ان ازمع الركب ترحيلاً فلي بكم

جسم مقيم وقلبٌ عنه مرتحلُ

If the caravan intends to travel, then for me with you

A residing body and a heart that travels,

قد اكتم الوجد والاشواق بائحة

واستر الدمع والاجفان تنهمل

I conceal passion and longings raging,

And veil tears and the eyelids welling,
