1. لغانية كحلاً يزينها العقد

    تهيجت أم تشتاق أم قد عنى وجد

    Her words adorn her like kohl decorates the eyelids

    Has she become impassioned or yearning or has she fallen in love?

  2. أأم للذي أضحت به الأرض قد علا

    عليها من الأنوار نور له وقد

    Or is it for the one who has made the earth exalted through his light

    Upon it lights that are exclusively his lights?

  3. ألا أبلغوا عني السلام تحية

    امام عمان راشداً أيها الوفد

    Convey my greetings and salutations

    To the Imam of Oman, Rashid, O you delegates

  4. وصحبته طراً وقد تضمنت

    جوانحه وداً لهم ولهم عضد

    And his companions young and old and their hearts contained

    Love for them and support for them

  5. جميعاً وخصوا بالتحية ذا النهى

    سليل سعيد صانه الصمد الفرد

    All of them, and single out with greetings the one with sublime character

    The descendant of Sa`id whom the Eternal Master protected

  6. لقد قمت في الاسلام بالحق مصعداً

    إلى الرتبة العمياء يسمو بك السعد

    Indeed you have ascended in Islam truthfully

    To the supreme rank, good fortune raises you

  7. ورمت مراماً قط ما رام وانتهى

    إلى مثلها إلا امرؤ صابر جلد

    And you have never set out an objective or concluded

    Any like it except a patient, steadfast man

  8. حليم حكيم خاضع متواضع

    عفيف لطيف حازم حجر صلد

    Forbearing, wise, humble, modest

    Chaste, kind, determined, firm as stone

  9. كمثلك والدعاء والشكر للذي

    حباك بها بين الخلائق والمجد

    The likes of you and prayers and thanks to He

    Who has gifted you with this among people and glory

  10. وجددت ما شاد الأولى بعد هدمه

    واحييت ما سنوه اذغاله الخمد

    And you have rebuilt what the early ones erected and then was destroyed

    And revived what they instituted but oblivion erased

  11. وأمنحت إذ قمت الأباطنة مفخراً

    وقام جميع الناس طراً بك الأزد

    And you have bestowed when you stood tall gloriously

    And all the people happily walked in your procession

  12. فلا زلت محموداً لدى الرب والملا

    حياتك أو تلقى الحمام ومن بعد

    So you remain praised in the sight of the Lord and the angels

    Whether you live or encounter death and afterwards

  13. وحسبك نهجاً رمت قصداً وحلة

    لبست وقوماً أنت في أثرهم تحدو

    And sufficient for you is the path you intentionally tread

    And the garment you wore and a people whom you emulate in pursuit

  14. أباضية زهراً كراماً أفاضلاً

    مناقبهم في كل سام علا تبدو

    The Abadites, flowers, honorable, virtuous

    Their merits manifest in every lofty summit

  15. أولاك أولاك الراشدون الذين لم

    يزيغوا عن الحق المنير ولا صدوا

    They, they are the rightly guided ones who never

    Deviated from the shining truth nor blocked its way

  16. فنحن بما ساروا نسير ونقتفي

    طريقتهم حقاً إلى أن يرى الوعد

    So we walk the path they walked and follow

    Their way truly until the promise is seen

  17. فجازاهم خير الجراء تفضلاً

    لما أثروا للعقد من لا له ند

    So may the Best Requiter reward them graciously

    For what they preferred over all else without rival

  18. وأنت لنا من بعدهم صرت قيماً

    حمولاً لثقل الخطب يوري بك الزند

    And you are for us after them made custodian

    Bearing the burden of grave affairs the flint makes sparks from you

  19. فللأمر شمر عن ذراع وساعد

    وللنهي حتى لا يجاوركم ضد

    So prepare for the matter, roll up your sleeve and exert effort

    And for the prohibition until no opposition remains near you

  20. وقد كان من إخواننا الغر فتية

    بناحية الاشغا شهام لهم عقد

    And some of our brothers, brave youths

    In the region of Al Ashkhar, valiant, for them ties

  21. وفيهم فتى أكرم به نسل خالد

    له همة كبراء نحو السما تعدو

    Among them is a youth ennobled in descent from Khalid

    He has tremendous ambitions that soar to the sky

  22. وقصوا لنا ما كان من أمركم وما

    لديكم فيا للّه در الذي يهدو

    And they recounted to us the events with you and what

    Lies with you, so Oh what a gift are those guided

  23. وما كان من أبناء فهد وأختها

    عقيل أولي البغي الذي أهلك الحقد

    And what transpired with the sons of Fahd and her sister

    `Uqayl, those characterized by aggression which hatred brought on

  24. لقد زال عن آرا عقيل لنصرهم

    لنسل الفتى شاذان والديلم الرشد

    Indeed from the opinions of `Uqayl the support receded

    For the descendants of the youth Shadhan and Dilam the rightly guided

  25. كذلك نهد قد أذلت رقابها

    لنصرهم الأعدا لقد عجزت نهد

    Likewise Nahd, she has bowed her necks

    To support them against enemies, indeed Nahd was rendered helpless

  26. لقد جمع الأقوام طراً وخالفوا

    جيوش أبي غسان فاستوسق الحشد

    They gathered the tribes together and opposed

    The armies of Abu Ghassan so the crowds amassed

  27. وزفوا للقياهم بجيش عرمرم

    ولم يثبتوا عند اللقاء ولا اشتدوا

    And they marched to meet them with a great rumbling army

    But they did not stand firm in the encounter nor strengthen

  28. فلما ترآى العسكر إن تدابروا

    كمثل نعام شارد خلفه الأسد

    So when the soldiers saw them turn to flee

    Like ostriches chased by a lion

  29. فقلت منهم في التعارك عصبة

    على حتف خاضت دماءهم الفهد

    I said among them in the skirmishes is a group

    That plunged into the fight and their blood the panther shed

  30. فتباً لشبل المرء شاذاناً الردي

    وللّه إذ أوهى عساكره الحمد

    So shame on the cub of the man Shadhan the deluded

    And praise be to God when his troops were weakened

  31. فإن عدلوا عن بغيهم وتراجعوا

    إلى عسكر الاسلام والحق وارتدوا

    If they desist from their aggression and retreat

    To the camp of Islam, truth, and guidance and return

  32. فأهلاً وسهلاً بالعشيرة أنهم

    إليكم باخلاص لرب السما أدوا

    Then welcome, greetings to the clan if they

    To you in sincerity to the Lord of the heavens have come

  33. وإن هم أبو واستصرخونا فإننا

    قريب وما للقوم من صحبهم بد

    And if they insist and call out for us then we

    Are near and the people have no alternative to their comrades

  34. وما بين وادي حضرموت وبينكم

    إذا سركم اتياننا نحوكم بعد

    And what lies between Hadramout Valley and you

    If you desire to come to us afterwards

  35. متى يأتنا منكم صريخ نؤمكم

    بعسكر جرار يضيق به النجد

    Whenever a cry for help reaches us from you

    With a great army the expanse is narrowed

  36. كهولاً وشباناً صباحاً مشاعراً

    وراداً إلى الهيجا إذا استصعب الورد

    Elders and youths in the morning heading out

    To Hujjah when roses become inaccessible

  37. بكل رديني أصمّ ومرهف

    كمثل شعاع الشمس تحملنا الجرد

    With every firm and sensitive one

    Like rays of sunlight we the barren land take on

  38. فنتركهم وغرا ونضرب هامهم

    ونقصرهم حتى يجودوا بما أدوا

    Then we will leave them confused and shatter their zeal

    And cut them down until they disburse what they owe

  39. ونعبر في الآفاق شرقاً ومغرباً

    لقدوتنا أو يقشعر له الجلد

    And we will traverse the horizons east and west

    For our role model or their skin will shudder

  40. بأيدي الذي من في السموات كلها

    وفي الأرض إكراهاً وطوعاً له عبد

    By the hands of Him who in all the heavens

    And earth by compulsion and willingness is worshipped

  41. ودونكها من نظم فهم سما به

    إلى نشرها في اللّه للاخوة الود

    And below is a composition whose understanding elevated him

    To disseminate it for the love of brethren

  42. محبرة غرّاً كشمس يزينها

    لناظرها الاعزاز والشذر والند

    Written in Gharr like a sun adorned

    For its viewer by determination, radiance and dew

  43. حكى نظمها لما انتهى حسن نظمه

    وفصل بالعقيان والورق العقد

    He narrated its verse when the excellent arrangement was complete

    And separated by prose and lined paper

  44. فمنظرها عجب ومسمعها شفا

    ومأخذها سهل ومنطقها شهد

    So its scene is wondrous and its hearing a remedy

    And its content easy and its diction honey

  45. وإن أحدقت للشعر يوماً كتيبة

    وأشدوا جميع الشعر أزرت بما أشدوا

    And if a group ever closely watched poetry one day

    And all recited poetry I would outdo what they recited

  46. وصلى على المبعوث في خير أمة

    اله السما والأرض ما الليل مسود

    And send peace and blessings upon the sent one among the best nation

    The God of the heavens and earth for as long as night is dark

  47. وما نشرت هوج الرياح بأمره

    وثار بها أهبابها الغيف الرمد

    And the winds spread out their madding confusion by His command

    And in them stir their gusts, the dust stirred and murky

  48. وما لاح في حافاتها البرق معرضاً

    وهمهم في ادلهمام همه الرعد

    And in their edges lightning flashes exposed

    And rumbles deeply in their turmoil, the thunder roars
