  1. تيقن وإن لم تستبن فتيقن

    فإن بني الدنيا قلال التدين

    Be certain even if unclear, be certain still

    The people of this world have little faith

  2. منافقهم في كل وعد منافق

    وعفّهم عف إذا لم يضمَّن

    Their hypocrisy in every false promise

    Their weakness when not steadfast

  3. ألم تر أني قمت فيهم لياليا

    فلله قد أبصرتهم غير موقن

    Have you not seen I stood up to them night after night

    By God I saw they were not convicted

  4. فشمر هداك اللّه بالنفس طالباً

    لعزّ وإلا فاضطجع وتمسكن

    So roll up your sleeves, guided by God, seeking

    Honor or else lay down and resign

  5. فما الناس إلا أريحي مهذب

    يخوض حياض الموت أو ساقط دني

    For people are but gentle beasts

    Wading in the swamps of death or fallen base

  6. فودع دياراً لم تنل بين أهلها

    منالاً ودعها عنك دعها وأعمن

    So leave lands where you gained no comfort

    Among its people, leave it, leave it, decide

  7. فأما لقيت النصر من غير وهنة

    وأما لقيت الموت لا بالمهوّن

    Whether you meet victory without weakness

    Or you meet death, not humiliated

  8. فيال بني سهل أضفتم جماعتي

    وآويتموني يوم خرب موطني

    Oh clan of Sahl, you sheltered my people

    And gave me refuge when my home was ravaged

  9. وخاصمتم الأعداء دوني حمية

    وواسيتموني وائتمرتم لمعوني

    You fought my enemies, zealously guarding me

    You consoled me and conspired to support me

  10. وصرت مليكاً فيكم متمكناً

    كنيناً حصيناً مكرماً غير هين

    I became a capable king among you

    Steadfast, fortified, honored, not disgraced

  11. سوى أنني يا قوم لم أقض حاجة

    لديكم ولا عاينت أمراً يسرني

    Except, my people, I could not fulfill a need

    Or see a matter that delighted me

  12. رجوتكم أن تنصروا الحق بعدما

    وصلت بكم حبلي زماناً ومسكني

    I hoped you would champion the truth after

    My covenants with you, my time of conviction

  13. فضيعتم أمري وضعتم وربما

    ندمتم على التفريط بعد التمكن

    You failed my cause and perhaps

    Will regret neglecting me in my strength

  14. إلا أن حاجاتي التي عز أمرها

    علي وعندي نصر دين المهيمن

    But my needs, difficult to accomplish

    And victory for the religion of the guardian

  15. فإن تنصروني فالرجية فيكم

    وإن تعجزوا قابلت أرضاً تعزني

    If you support me, hope lies in you

    If you fail, I will seek a land that empowers me

  16. فلا ضاقت الدنيا ولا ضاق مسلك

    علي ولا أمري وعزمي بهين

    The world is not narrow, nor my path

    Nor my affairs, my resolve is not weak

  17. فردوا جواباً عاجلاً لا عدمتم

    حماة فإن العز داباً يحثني

    Reply urgently, do not lack protectors

    For honor drives me

  18. وصلوا على من أسس الدين والهدى

    وأظهره بالسيف بعد التغبن

    Bless the one who laid the foundations of faith and guidance

    And spread them with the sword after discord
