1. أحنُّ إلى دينِ اليهودِ من أجلهِ

    ولولا حذارُ السيفِ كنتُ يهوديَّا

    I long for the religion of the Jews because of him

    And were it not for fear of the sword, I would be a Jew

  2. ولستُ أخافُ السيفَ إلاَّ لأنني

    أموتُ بأشواقي وأتركه حيَّا

    It is not the sword I fear but that

    I die of yearning while it remains alive
