ومِفتانٍ قتولِ الدلِّ وَسْنَى
يجاذبُ خَصْرَها رِدْفٌُ رَدَاح
The killing glance and slender waist
Swaying, hugged by wrapping clothes.
سَرَتْ إذ نامتِ الرقباءُ نحوي
ومسكُ الليل تُهديه الرياح
She crept while the necks slept towards me
And the night donned musk blown by the wind.
وقد غنَّى الحليُّ على طلاها
بوسواسٍ فجاوبَهُ الوشاح
The trinkets sang of her rising moon
Answered by the rustling clothes.
تُحاذِرُ من عمودِ الصبح نوراً
مخافةَ أن يُلِمَّ بنا افتِضَاح
She fears the pillar of morning light
Lest exposure befell us at dawn.
فلم أرَ قبلها والليلُ داجٍ
صباحاً بات يَذْعَرُهُ صباح
Never before, as night darkened,
Had morning so frightened morning.
