قاض يجورُ على الضعيف وربما

لقي القويَّ بمثلِ حلم الأحنفِ

A judge who wrongs the weak, perhaps

Will meet the strong with equal grace.

لعبت بطلعته الرُّشا لعب الرَّشا

بفؤادِ خفَّاقِ الجوانحِ مُدنف

Fate toyed with him as with the dice—

That heart whose wings once longed for flight.
