O bird of the branches, if you meet a confidant

Conceal the secret of passion, let not the branches know

    Lovers are branches in command

While branches have descended upon the branches

My passion and your passion are twinned in an epoch

Except my eyelids are infatuated and delirious

I weep for the jujube and days gone by with it

The jujube was watered by the tender dew

So the more my tears increased, the more thirsty I became

For the heart is thirsty while the eyelids are sated
