أَيُّهَا المُعْتَدُّ في أَهْلِ النُّهَى
لا تَذُبْ إِثْر فَقِيدٍ ولَهَا
O you who transgress against the prohibited people
Do not pursue a captive prisoner
وإِذا الأُسْدُ حمتْ أَغيالَهَا
لم يضُرَّ الخِيس صَرْعاتُ المهَا
And when the lion protects her cubs
The vile one is not harmed by the blows of fate
وغَرِيبٌ يا ابْن أَقْمارِ العُلا
أَنْ يُراع البدْرُ مِن فَقْدِ السُّهَا
How strange, O son of the moons of highness
That the full moon should fear the loss of meteors
