This is my book, and the approach of death disturbs me,
Takes me away from life, though you are in my heart remembered.
If I fulfil not your due, the fault lies in my scanty days,
To God I owe no duty, no length of days.
I yearn for the departed, though ne'er again we'll meet,
Save where no moonlight's radiance can make the darkness retreat.
Greet in my name Mansur, than whom none nobler fought
To venge the Muslim's wrongs, and in their cause prevailed.
With tenderness greet Muzaffar, whose mighty arm
Brought victory, and turned the tide of war's alarm.
