عكفت على شرب الدخان وفي الحشا

لهيب جوى فازددت جمرا على جمر

I inclined towards smoking tobacco in solitude

The embers of my inner fire grew more intense

فقلت اداوي نار قلبي بمثلها

كما يتداوى شارب الخمر بالخمر

So I said I will cure the flames within my heart

As the drunkard cures himself with more wine
