يا أحمد الدوي دعوة مشفق

قلق الركاب شبحٍ قصي صادي

O Ahmed Al-Duwe, a compassionate call

The anxiety of travelers is a wandering ghost

عبث الهوى بقناتة فتأودت

وعدا وزاد ففت في الأعضاد

Love played with his eyelids, so he became sleepy

He made a promise and walked away into the limbs

فقد الحمى فقد الصديق فجهده

في الناس جهد الزند بالاصفاد

He lost passion, he lost a friend, so he struggled

Among people, like a flint struggling with shackles

والدهر نازعني رداء شبيبتي

وانتاش مني طارفي ونلادي

Fate wrestled the gown of my youth from me

And plucked my cheeks and softness from me

والفت كتم خصاصتي فكأنها

بين الضلوع تميمة لفؤادي

And I concealed my special traits, as if they were

Between my ribs, a talisman for my heart

وإلى جوار حماك اقصدنا السرى

فنزلت ساحة كعبة القصاد

And we went to your neighborhood on a secret journey

So we arrived at the square of the Kaaba of intentions

وعلمت إذ وافيت بابك انني

انا والغنى كنا على ميعاد

And when I came to your door, I knew

That I and wealth had an appointment

وعلمت ان حمى سواك من الورى

كحمى رقادي اذ بغير سهاد

And I knew that any passion other than you

Is like my passion when without a pillow

انا في ذمامك كيف كنت فلا تك

ل حبل المسيء لغارب الأبعاد

How could I have been under your care and not be

A rope to protect one far from evil

هل كان بكرع من فراتك وارد

لو ان شرطاً عصمة الورّاد

Could there have been, from your Euphrates, a newcomer

If it were not for the chastity of the water-drawers

هل كان يأتي الفتح باب منتدى

البدوي فيه لحاضر او بادي

Could the opening of the door of your forum come

Where settled and nomadic alike could enter

فامدد إليه بد المغيث وناجه

نجوى الكرام بالسن الامداد

So extend to him the hand of the savior and speak to him

In the soft whispering of generous men

وامسح بنظرتك الرحيمة زيغه

حتى يعود مثقف المآد

And wipe away his deviance with your merciful glance

Until he returns, with his hair brushed

وبعود من وجه النجاح بغرة

وسمت بصبح تبسم الاجواد

And he returns with the light of success on his face

Marked by the smile of dawn of the generous

وينيل كور العيس عفو مقذف

برمى بها التأويب بالاسآد

And he obtains the laurels of glory, pardoned

For the accusations made against him by the defamers

وافرج ابا فرّاج عقدة انسه

فاليك آل قياده وقيادي

And relieve Abu Farraj of the knot of forgetfulness

For to you belong all leadership and leading

ركبا اليك من الرجاء هوادياً

وإلى حماك سناك كان الهادي

Two came to you, led by their love for you

Through seas of dew and the shining full moon

اثنان ساقهما هواك فيما

بحر البحور ندى وبدر البادي

A rain cloud and a vanquishing flame against enemies

That shakes the lions' dens

زجل السحاب فكم به من رحمة

وشهاب قهر في العدا وقاد

A sword that splits the arrogant with its lightning

And moistens the garden of prophecy with fine rain

سيف تخزطلي العتاة بروقه

وتهز منه فرائص الآساد

So guide them the paths of nobility and consent

And provide them with all they wish

خضل بانداء النبوة روضه

ارج التنسم طيب الميلاد

O Ahmed Al-Badawi, our matter in summary

Is that we are merchants of glories

فاسلكهما سبل الكرامة والرضا

بلغهما اسباب كل مراد

Our greed has divided us in the countries

Creating for our misery a long night of sterility

يا احمد البدوي جملة أمرنا

انا تجار بضائع الامجاد

So light for us the fire and bring us together

With a hand that reaches above the clouds

وتقسمتنا في البلاد مطامع

خلقت لشقوتنا بليل كساد

One called you from the club of nobility but did not find

Other than the best of youths when he called

فاقدح زناد واجنا والمع لنا

بيد لها فوق السحاب ايادي

ناداك من نادي الكرام ولم يجد

الا فتى الفتيان حيني ينادي
