سأسلو بيحيى وأيَّامهِ

فعذُر السّلوِّ به مستبينُ

I will ask Yahya and his days

So the excuse for asking is clear

إمامٌ تجمَّع في راحتيهِ

لأهلِ المحبَّةِ دنيا ودينُ

A leader in whose comfort

Is the world and religion of those who love

جنانٌ خصيبٌ وروضٌ أريضٌ

وظلٌ ظليلٌ وماءٌ معينُ

Fertile gardens, a soft meadow

Shady shade, flowing water

لئن كان من قَبلِهِ جدُّهُ

علينا الوصيَّ فهذا الأمينُ

If his grandfather before him

Was the guardian over us, then this one is the trustee
