May rain fall upon the haunt of pleasures I once knew there,
where the gazelles of Wajra grazed its fresh, untouched meadow—
each a fair beauty, her face like the full moon,
slender-waisted, swaying like a bough of the bān tree.
Wasting has been my companion since parting from him,
until my body, through sheer thinness, became an alif.
