على سر من را والمصيف تحيةٌ

مجللةٌ من مغرمٍ بهواهُما

Greetings of summertime and a secret vow

Adorned with the love of them both

ألا هل لمشتاقٍ ببغدادَ رجعةٌ

تُقَرِّب من ظليهما وذراهما

Oh longing one in Baghdad, is there no return

That brings me closer to their shade and homes

محلان لقى اللَه خيرَ عباده

عزيمةَ رُشدٍ فيهما فاصطفاهما

Two righteous souls chosen by God

With resolve and faith in their hearts

وقولا لبغدادٍ إذا ما تنسمت

على أهل بغدادٍ جُعلتِ فداهُما

Say to Baghdad when the breeze blows

May you ransom those people of Baghdad

أفي بعض يومٍ شفَّ عيني بالقذا

حروركِ حتى رابني ناظراهُما

Will I someday heal my eyes with seeing

Your visage, as I long to see you both
