1. عِش حِقبَةً لا تَنتَهِي بَل تَبتَدِي

    وَتَمَلَّ بِالدُنيا وَأَبلِ وَجَدِّدِ

    Live a never-ending era that just begins

    And be done with this world, act nobly and renew

  2. فَإِذا تَقَضَّت مُدَّةٌ مَعهُودَةٌ

    وُصِلَت بِأَسعَد مُدَّةٍ لَم تُعهَدِ

    So when a known period ends

    And is tied to a most felicitous unexperienced period

  3. فَتَدُومُ مَخصُوصاً بِعِزٍ سَرمَدٍ

    لا يَنقَضي وَبِطُولِ عُمرٍ سَرمَدِ

    You then particularly endure with eternal glory

    That does not diminish and with an eternal long life

  4. رُم ما اِشتَهَيتَ تَنَل وُسُس ما تَبتَغي

    تَرشُد وَحاوِل ما أَرَدتَ تُسَدَّدِ

    Seek what you desired to attain and be rightly guided in what you wanted to accomplish

    And wear the crescent of the horizon as a necklace and speak

  5. وَالبَس هِلالَ الأُفقِ طَوقاً وَانتَطِق

    شُهُبَ المَجَرَّةِ وَانتَعِل بِالفَرقَدِ

    The stars of the galaxy and wear Alfarqad

    And drape over Ash-Shi’raa for crossing clothes

  6. واسحَب عَلى الشِعرى العَبُورِ مَلابِساً

    عَبَرَت عَلى جَسَدِ الإِمامِ الأَمجَدِ

    That crossed over the body of the most glorious Imam

    In it is the breeze of the Father of the Imams Haydar

  7. فِيها نَسِيمُ أَبِي الأَئِمَّةِ حَيدَرٍ

    وَنَسيمُ خَيرِ الأَنبِياءِ مُحَمَّدِ

    And the breeze of the best of Prophets Muhammad

    And tie the crown upon yourself and know that it

  8. وَاعقِد عَلَيكَ التاجَ وَاعلَم أَنَّهُ

    بِالعِزِّ مَعقُودٌ وَإِن لَم يُعقَدِ

    Is tied with glory even if it is not tied

    In it embedded are many glories

  9. قَد رُصِّعَت فيهِ مَناقِبُ جَمَّة

    تُغنِيهِ عَن دُرٍّ بِهِ وَزَبَرجَدِ

    That suffice it from pearls and peridot

    And hang the sword that resembles its sheath

  10. وَتَقَلَّدِ العَضبَ الشَبِيهَ بِغِمدِهِ

    فَكَأَنَّما هُوَ مُصلَتٌ لَم يُغمدِ

    So it is as if it is an unsheathed well-honed sword

    Many defeated remnants due to its sharpness as if

  11. كَثُرَت بِحَدَّيهِ الفُلولُ كَأَنَّهُ

    مِمّا يُكَسِّرُ في الطُلى فَمُ أَدرَدِ

    It is that which breaks the lips of the eloquent

    It is singular in the sheath unless it

  12. هُوَ مُفرَدٌ في الغِمدِ إِلّا أَنَّهُ

    في الرَوعِ يُزوِجُ كُلَّ شَيءٍ مُفرَدِ

    Pairs everything singular in might

    In the palm of the most splendid, if he gestures with his sword

  13. في كَفِّ أَروَعَ لَو أَشارَ بِسَيفِهِ

    لَفَرى وَحدُّ السَيفِ غَيرُ مُجَرَّدِ

    You would see the sword’s sharpness is not bare

    And ride the steeds of the Prophet's son, spirited

  14. وَاركَب جِيادَ ابنِ النَبِيِّ طَوامِحاً

    مِثلَ الصُقورش دَوالِجاً في العَسجَدِ

    Like an eagle, galloping into the wilderness

    Of every strong-boned steed well-girded

  15. مِن كُلِّ مَلفُوفِ الجِيادِ مُقَلَّصٍ

    كَالسِبدِ سِيدِ الرَدهَةِ المُتَمَرِّدِ

    Like the lead, the chief of the defiant herd

    Trotting easily with the gait of its saddle

  16. مُتَرَفِّقٍ يَمشي بِحِليَةِ سَرجِهِ

    مَشيَ المُقَيَّدِ وَهوَ غَيرُ مُقَيَّدِ

    The gait of the tethered though it is not tethered

    And when it runs under the stallion by its Lord

  17. وَإِذا جَرى تَحتَ العَجاجِ بِرَبِّهِ

    طَبَعَ الأَهِلَّةَ في صِفاحِ الجَلمَدِ

    It imprints the new moon on the surface of the ice

    And behind your back a banner raised

  18. وَوَراءَ ظَهرِكَ رايَةٌ مَرفُوعَةٌ

    تَهدِي الخَمِيسَ مِنَ الضَلالِ فَيَهتَدِي

    Guiding the misguided from misguidance to guidance

    Like the beautiful doe havinglovelocks

  19. كَالغادَةِ الحَسناءِ ذاتُ ذَوائِبٍ

    تَهفُو وَذاتُ تَعَطُّفٍ وَتَأَوُّدِ

    Fondling and with affection and amity

    Whenever the morning breeze fluttered with it

  20. في لَونِ عِرضِكَ كُلَّما خَفَقَت بِها

    رِيحُ الصَبا خَفَقَت قُلُوبُ الحُسَّدِ

    The hearts of the envious fluttered

    The Imam tied its branches with his right hand

  21. عَقَدَ الإِمامُ فُرُوعَها بِيَمِينِهِ

    عَقداً تَكَفَّلَ بِالبَقاءِ الأَسعَدِ

    A bond he guaranteed for the most felicitous survival

    And next to it the white standards as if they were

  22. وَحِيالَها بِيضُ البُنودِ كَأَنَّها

    رَوضٌ يَرِفُّ عَلى القَنا المُتَأَوِّدِ

    A meadow overflowing on the beloved river

    Of gold and chiseled and latticed

  23. مِن مُذهَبٍ وَمُفَضَّضِ وَمُخَلَّقٍ

    وَمُزَوَّقٍ وَمُعَصفَرِ وَمُوَرَّدِ

    And feathered and gilded and reddened

    And Al-Buzal the carrier of domes as if they were

  24. وَالبُزلُ حامِلَةُ القِبابِ كَأَنَّها

    سَكرى لِكَثرَةِ ما تَرُوحُ وَتَغتَدِي

    Intoxicated from too much roving and wandering

    From Sab'Sab to Sab'Sab or jungle

  25. في سَبسَبٍ عَن سَبسَبٍ أَو مَجهَلٍ

    عَن مَجهَلِ أَو فَدفَدٍ عَن فَدفَدِ

    From jungle or creek to creek

    They left the station of the Prophet's son and came

  26. تَرَكَت مَحَلَّ ابنِ الرَسولِ وَأَقبَلَت

    مَنصُوصَةً تَبغِي مَحَلَّ السُؤدُدِ

    Erect, seeking the abode of As-Sudud

    And their necks craned in yearning

  27. وَتَشَوَّفَت أَعناقُها في رَبوَتي

    مِصرٍ إِلى البَلَدِ القَصِيِّ الأَبعَدِ

    In Egypt for the most distant foreign land

    And travelled until they crossed under the darkness

  28. وَسَرَت إِلى أَن جاوَزت تَحتَ الدُجى

    رَملَ العَرِيشِ وَرَملَ ذاتِ الغَرقَدِ

    The sand of Arish and the sand of DhatAl-Gharqad

    And disliked the water of Al-Jifar and tried

  29. وَتَكَرَّهَت ماءَ الجِفارِ وَحاوَلَت

    ماءً بِشَطٍّ قُويقَ عَذبَ المَوردِ

    Water of a coast, fresh sweet water

    And avoided the sea of Tyre, seeking

  30. وَتَيامَنَت عَن بَحرِ صُورٍ تَبتَغي

    بِالشامِ أُمَّ الناجِعينَ القُصَّدِ

    Through Syria the refuge of the determined

    And came to Tripoli, their hearts almost

  31. وَأَتَت طَرابُلُساً تَكادُ قُلُوبُها

    تَطغى مِنَ الشَوقِ المُقيِمِ المُقعِدِ

    Overflowing from residing lasting longing

    And intended to pass Marqiyya and it has changed

  32. وَتَيَمَّمَت مَرَقِيَّةَ وَقَدِ اِنطَوَت

    مِمّا تَجُوبُ البِيدَ طَيَّ مُجَلَّدِ

    From frequenting the Baid Mount

    And it complained of the abundance of clouds and of how much

  33. وَشَكَت بِها فَرطَ السَحابِ وَفَرطَما

    بِقُلُوبِها مِن لَوعَةٍ لَم تَبرُدِ

    The intensity of yearning in their hearts did not cool

    And aimed for Hama and the clouds hindered it

  34. وَنَوَت حَماةَ وَالغَمامُ يَصُدُّها

    عَن قَصدِها صَدَّ الحِيامِ الوُرَّد

    From intending like the thorns of Wars hinder

    And aimed for Krak des Chevaliers and the fullness of their chests

  35. وَنَوَت كَفَرطابَ وَمِلءُ صُدُورِها

    شَوقٌ أَحَرُّ مِن الجَحيمِ المُوقَدِ

    Is a longing hotter than hellfire

    And they traversed the land of Ma`arrah and spread

  36. وَتَجاوَزَت أَرضَ المَعَرَّةِ وَانتَشَت

    رِيحَ الحَياةِ مِنَ السَبِيلِ الأَقصَدِ

    The breeze of life from the straightest path

    And at Sermin land they were relieved after

  37. وَبِأَرضِ سَرمِينٍ أُرِيحَت بَعدَما

    شَكَتِ العَياءَ مِنَ الذَمِيلِ السَرمَدِ

    Complaining of perennial weariness to the eternal

    And it came intending the best intender

  38. وَغَدَت مُيَمِّمَةً أَجَلَّ مُيَمَّمٍ

    قَدراً وَأَقرَبَ نائِلاً مِن مَوعِدِ

    In destiny and nearest obtainer from meeting

    Until it came to the king, the light of his forehead

  39. حَتّى أَتَت مَلِكاً ضِياءُ جَبِينِهِ

    كَضِياءِ بَدرِ الحِندِسِ المُتَوَقِّدِ

    Like the light of the glowing full moon

    So he gave them the house of bliss and relieved them

  40. فَأَحَلَّها دارَ النَعِيمِ وَفَكَّها

    بَعدَ الإِياسِ مِنَ العَذابِ المُوصَدِ

    After despairing from shuttered tribulation

    My soul be sacrificed for the habituated king, his soul

  41. رُوحِي فِدا المَلِكِ المُعَوِّدِ رُوحَهُ

    بِالحِلمِ أَفضَلَ عادَةِ المُتَعَوِّدِ

    Habituated with the highest of customs of the habituated

    If he is munificent and erred

  42. إِن سِيلَ جادَ وَإِن أَصابَ خَطِيَّةً

    أَغضى فَلَم يَحقِد وَلَم يَتَوَجَّدِ

    He connives and neither envies nor gathers rancor

    Women gave birth from men inclinations

  43. وَلَدَ النِساءُ مِنَ الرِجالِ خَلائِقاً

    لا يَنحَصُونَ وَمِثلُهُ لَم يُولَدِ

    That cannot be counted and none like him has been born

    Thanking the Imam for the number of his bounties

  44. شَكَرُوا الإِمامَ عَلى تَواتُرِ فَضلِهِ

    شُكرَ الخَمِيلَةِ لِلغَمامِ المُغتَدِي

    Thanking of the lover to the encroaching cloud

    As for the Commander of the Faithful, he knows

  45. أَمّا أَمِيرُ المُؤمِنينَ فَعالِمٌ

    أَنَّ الجَميلَ إِلَيكَ غَيرُ مُفَنَّدِ

    That generosity is not refuted to you

    So remove from the countries and its people

  46. فَلتَدفَعَنَّ عَنِ البِلادِ وَأَهلِها

    نُوَباً يُخافُ وَقُوعُها وَكَأَن قَدِ

    Blame, feared to fall as if it already had

    And may you be praised as you were praised in Tupl

  47. وَلتُحمَدَنَّ كَما حُمِدتَ بتُبَّلٍ

    وَالخَيلُ تَعثَرُ بِالقَنا المُتَقَصِّدُ

    And the horses stumble amongst the purposeful river

    Unbelief from you and your brother flees

  48. وَالشِركُ مِنكَ وَمِن شَقِيقِكَ هارِبٌ

    هَرَبَ الشَحاحِ مِنَ الغَمامِ المُرعِدِ

    Fleeing of the juvenile from the flashing thunder

    Were it not for your smiting swords, those who are at the frontiers

  49. لَولا سُيُوفُكُمُ البَواتِرُ لالتَقى

    مَن بِالثُغورِ وَمِن بِبُرقَةِ مُنشِدِ

    And who are at Barqah would have met

    But your resolves refused to bend

  50. لَكِن أَبَت عَزَماتُكُمُ أَن تَنثَنِي

    أَو تَنثَني رِيّانَةً كَبِدُ الصَدِي

    Or bend yielding, even the skin of the wolf

    You have supported Islam, indeed your swords

  51. أَسنَدتُمُ الإِسلامَ إِنَّ سُيُوفَكُم

    لِمَعاقِلِ الإِسلامِ أَفضَلُ مُسنِدِ

    Are the greatest support to fortresses of Islam

    Were it not for you, the soft cloud would be unattainable

  52. لَولاكُمُ كانَ النَدى مُتَعَذِّرَ ال

    مَلقى وَكانَ الفَضلُ مَغلُولَ اليَدِ

    And grace handcuffed

    The Father of Ulwān has become peerless amongst you

  53. أَمسى أَبُو العُلوانِ فِيكُمُ أَوحَدَاً

    فَسَهِرتُ فِيهِ عَلى الكَلامِ الأَوحَدِ

    So I have stayed up late composing unmatched poetry for him

    And in it I composed whimsical elegies

  54. وَنَظَمتُ فِيهِ مِنَ القَرِيضِ شَوارِداً

    أَنسَت بَني الدُنيا شَوارِدَ أَحمَدِ

    That make me forget the elegies of Ahmad

    His virtues have been enumerated, they said

  55. قالَت مَناقِبُهُ وَقَد عَدَّدتُها

    أَقصِر فَإنَّ الغَيثَ غَيرُ مُعَدَّدِ

    Be concise for the rain is not enumerated

    Shut your eyes to them for the sun’s glow may

  56. غَمِّض جُفُونَكَ دُونَهُنَّ فَرُبَّما

    أَعشى ضِياءُ الشَمسِ جَفنَ الأَرمَدِ

    Blind the eyes of the blind

    You have depleted your wealth upon generosity and have not left

  57. فَرَّغتَ مالَكَ في الجَميلِ وَلَم تَدَع

    في اليَومِ ما يُعطى وَيُوهَبُ في الغَدِ

    To give and bestow in the day what should in tomorrow

    O best one my riding beast has arrived to

  58. يا خَيرَ مَن وَصَلَت إِلَيهِ وَعَرَّسَت

    بِفِنائِهِ خُوصُ الرِكابِ الوُخَّدِ

    And his courtyard has housed the necks of the canopied mounts

    Ascending to highness is not easy

  59. لَيسَ الصُعودُ إِلى العَلاءِ بِهَيِّنٍ

    فَيُنالَ إِنَّ المَجدَ صَعبُ المَصعَدِ

    Indeed glory is of steep access

    Whoever has grasped your palm has not ceased to be certain

  60. مَن شامَ كَفَّكَ لَم يَزَل مُتَيَقِّناً

    أَن الغَمامَ بِجُودِ كَفِّكَ يَقتَدِي

    That the clouds emulate in generosity the palm of your hand

    If only the ancients saw you, they would have seen

  61. لَيتَ الأَوائِلَ أَبصَرُوكَ فَأَبصَروا

    زَودَ الأَخِيرِ وَنَقصَ فَضلِ المُبتَدي

    The equipment of the latter most and the inferiority of the primitive

    You have beautified life as if you are

  62. حَسُنَت بِكَ الدُنيا كَأَنَّكَ غُرَّةٌ

    بَيضاءُ في وَجهِ الزَمانِ الأَسوَدِ

    A white good omen in the face of pitch-black time
