كُفِيتَ العِدى وَوُقيتَ الرَدى

فَما زِلتَ تَعمُرُ رَبعَ النَدى

You have been spared the harm and kept safe from ruin

So you continue inhabiting the land of greenery

فَلَم أَرَ مِثلَكَ قادَ الجِيادَ

مُجَلَّلَةً بِثِيابِ الوَغى

I have not seen anyone like you leading the steeds

Adorned in the clothes of turmoil

كَأَنَّكَ تَشتاقُ يَومَ الهِياجِ

كَما اِشتاقَتِ الماءَ ذاتُ الصَدى

As if you yearn for the day of commotion

As the echoing valley yearns for water

وَسَيفُكَ أَفنى العِدى في البِلادِ

فَهَذي السُيوفُ فَأَينَ العِدى

And your sword destroyed the enemies in the countries

So these are the swords, but where are the enemies?

فِداكَ المُلوكُ مِنَ النائِباتِ

وَإِن لَم يَكُونُوا مَكانَ الفِدا

You have saved the kings from adversities

And even if they cannot repay you

فَإِنَّكَ أَكرَمُ مِن حاتِمٍ

يَميناً وَأَبعَدُ مِنهُ مَدى

You are more generous than Hatem

In giving and farther in range
