قل الوفاء فما تلقاه في أحد

ولا يمر لمخلوق على بال

Say faithfulness, yet you will not find it in anyone,

Nor does any creature come to mind.

وصار عندهم عنقاء مغربة

أو مثل ما حدثوا عن ألف مثقال

And it has become for them a western ostrich

Or like what they recounted about a thousand mithqals.
