خَليليَّ اِغتَممت فَعللاني

بِصَوت مُطرب حَسَنٍ وَجيز

My beloved is sad, so cheer me up

With the voice of a sweet singer, tender and graceful,

عَزيزة رَقَّ حافرها فَأَزرت

بِرقة حافِر اِمرأة العَزيز

The gait of her gentle feet delighted me,

With the graceful tread of a dear woman’s feet.
