لَقَد قالَ أَبو بَكر

صَواباً بَعدَما أَنصت

Abu Bakr spoke truthfully

After he listened carefully

خَرَجنا لَم نَصد شَيئاً

وَما كانَ لَنا أَفلَت

We went out and gained nothing

And we had no escape
