1. وَمُدامة لا يَبتَغي مِن رَبِهِ أَحَد

    حَباه بِها لَدَيهِ مَزيدا

    A goblet whose like no one hopes anymore to gain from their Lord,

    He graced her with it as extra bounty;

  2. في كَأسِها صُور يَظن لِحُسنِها

    عُرُباً برَزنَ مِن الجِنان وَغيدا

    In her glass seem forms which for loveliness

    You'd deem Houris that strode from the Gardenbowers, or moonshine.

  3. وَإِذا المَزاج أَثارِها فَتَقَسَمَت

    ذَهَباً وَدُرّاً تَوأماً وَفَريدا

    When her mixer excites her, she splits herself up

    Into gold and pearls, twins and sole;

  4. وَكَأَنَهُنَّ لَبسنَ ذاكَ مجاسداً

    وَجَعَلنَ ذا لِنحورَهن عُقودا

    And 'tis as though they donned for the sake of adornment

    Those shapes, and made them collars for their necks.
