إن كنت تنشط للمدي

ح وللثناء عليك مني

If you are active for praise

And for me to extol you

فابعث إلي مع الرسو

ل إذا أتاك بملء دنِّ

Then send with the messenger

When he comes to you, news of affection

ومتى رضيت بأن أقط

ع أو أهجن أو أزني

And if you are pleased for me to desist

Or transgress or commit adultery

فاصرف رسولي خائباً

وادفع بقبحك حسن ظني

Then send back my messenger disappointed

And with your ugliness rebuff my good opinion
