على الأثافي لنا قدورُ

ساكنةٌ النبض لا تفور

On the carpets we have pots,

Without a boiling pulse, still

قامت على سوقها لأكل

ونحن من حولها ندورُ

They stand in the marketplace for food,

While we circle around them

وعندنا من شراب عمروٍ

دنٌّ رحيبُ الحشى كبيرُ

And we have from the drink of Amr

Ample, spacious is the belly, great

لما فضضناه فاح منه

نسيم مسكٍ ولاح نور

When we opened it, from it emanated

A breeze of musk and shone light

فكن لنا مسعداً وبادر

يكمل بك الحسن والسرور

So be fortunate for us and take the initiative

To complete the beauty and the joy

واغنم من الدهر صفو يومٍ

فهو بتكديره جدير

And take advantage of the day’s prime

For it deserves disturbance
