1. No reproachers can turn me away from love,

nor is my devotion's purity mingled with changing colors.

  2. Indeed, the sweetest and most blissful of my hours

are the hours of your nearness, O you whose love is my faith.

  3. The day on which I do not see you brings sorrow close to me,

while the day I see you draws me near to joys.

  4. I never forget my love for you—you yourself know it—

nor can the long ages drive me away from love.

  5. O full moon, perfected whenever it rises complete,

and bān-tree branch, whenever it sways in supple grace!

  6. My longing for you and my patience apart from you—this one and that—

whether prolonged or shortened, each keeps wearing me away.

  7. Indeed, the heart—may God preserve you, O my hope—

knows loved ones and enemies by what I make plain.

  8. So ask your heart about me: it bears witness for me

to the truth of my words; that is enough for me, and suffices.
