Joy has descended upon this bond auspiciously,
And its rising star with happiness has appeared.
The shade has crowned the face of the meadow, so its branches
With congratulations spread blossoms.
And the birds from joy in their nests chirped loudly,
At every branch - you see no string.
They say in their chirping, may your happiness last forever,
For the brides, so they may live in this and more.
Your wedding had saddened me, for at my wedding
I was joined to her who attended.
And at my wedding, I had reached
The utmost in age, and my reason in the world famed.
So I knew from my reason and its abundance,
That if I slept on my back, behind would be.
While the reason of my bride was less than
My own, though her lifetime held maturity.
She bites - I fear not her bite's pain,
For the order of her teeth in her mouth scattered.
In age she has pierced - no harm if pierced
By teeth from a spear or sword severed.
In her complexion, a mole; in her ear, a curl;
In her eye, a stye the eyelid covered.
In her waist, a hump; in her leg, a limp;
In her palm, a cleft - no harm if broken.
On her back, a hunch; in her throat, a bunch;
In her lifetime, setbacks - how many lessons seen!
O, beauty of her bent stature, when she sways
One day, her hair flowing on her neck.
It tells of date honey spreading,
And if it drips on sidr, it mimics sap.
She says, "My nape mimics the bent branch,"
So I said, "It mimics it, if erect and spread."
She keeps calling to me, "My beauty I gained with you!"
Oh! If only death missed her - for her, a grave.
