يقبّل الأرض بالإحسان معترفا

كتاب عبد أتى مُستلزم الأدب

He kisses the ground with kindness, confessing,

A servant has come, necessitating etiquette.

يهدي السلام إلى مَن غاب عن نظري

وعن فؤادي وحقّ اللَه لم يغب

He sends peace to those absent from my sight,

And from my heart - by Allah, they did not disappear.

يا يوسفاً قد حكى يعقوب مغرمه

يبثّ حزناً بقلب فيك مكتئب

O Yusuf, Jacob told of his longing,

Lamenting with a heart in you that grieves.

شوقي إليك وبُعدي عنك بينهما

حار الفؤاد فلم يثبت ولم يثب

My longing for you and my distance from you,

Confused my heart, it did not settle or wander.

قلبي وطرفي من حاليهما جَلَدي

ما بين مُنسبك يفنى ومُنسكب

My heart and my gaze, from their state, chided me.

Whatever is between your absence passes away and spills out.

وكل هذا إذا أرضاك يا أملي

لا أوحش اللَه من طيب اللقا أربي

And all this, if it pleases you, O my hope -

May Allah not deprive me of the sweetness of meeting, my Lord.
