1. بادر لروض بعون اللَه محروس

    فاق الرياض بموز فيه مغروس

    Hasten to the garden with the help of the Protected God

    It surpasses gardens with its banana trees planted

  2. منزّه عن نوى كم فيه أوقعني

    مولعاً برجاء فيه معكوس

    Free from malice, how much it has enthralled me

    Passionately hoping for the inverted in it

  3. تهتزّ أوراقه تيهاً إذا انتشرت

    على الغصون كأذناب الطواويس

    Its leaves sway confusedly when they spread

    On the branches like the tails of peacocks

  4. ألفتُه مُذ غدا في اللون يُشبهني

    وعِلّة الضمّ فينا نوع تجنيس

    I befriended it since it began to resemble me in color

    And the reason for our affinity is a kind of pun

  5. لكنّ صُفرة هذا من سلامته

    وصفرتي من ضنى وجد وتفليس

    But the yellowness of this one is from its perfection

    While my yellowness is from deprivation, love, and bankruptcy

  6. تُرى الزمان ولو في النوم يُسعفني

    بصحن قطر وموز فيه مغموس

    It seems time, even in sleep, aids me

    With a bowl of rainwater and a banana submerged in it

  7. في يوم صحو وغيم ينقضي عجباً

    يظلّ من ذَين في ضحك وتعبيس

    On an awake day, and clouds surprisingly scatter

    Laughing and frowning remain of the two

  8. والروض أزهاره بالقطر هامية

    تبكي سروراً بأحداق مناعيس

    And the garden's flowers laden with drops

    Weep with joy with winking eyes

  9. أخيّه إن كان هذا بعدما طلعت

    بوادر النّزل في استجلاب تأنيس

    My brother, if this is after the first signs

    Of dwellings appeared, bringing comfort

  10. وحبّذا كل حلو جاء حينئذ

    لكن بلا ثمن أعطيه من كيسي

    How good is every sweet thing that came then

    But without a price I would give it from my purse
