أغر يبصر منه الناس في رجلٍ

ولليث في بشر والبدر في غصن

A man from whom people see a lion in his legs

And a lion in his facial features and the full moon in a branch

سما بهمته في المكرمات إلى

علياء يقصر عنها همة الزمن

He aimed high in virtues

To lofty heights beyond the aspiration of time

يلقاك واضح ليل الفكر راجح ني

ل الكف طاهر ذيل السر والعلن

You meet him with a bright night of sober thought

A pure palm, the tail of secrets and openly known

ماضي العزيمة ميمون النقيبة رئب

ال الكتيبة عين القائل اللسن

Firm in resolve, auspicious in leadership

A lion to the battalion, the eye of the eloquent tongue

إذا تكلم واستحليت غرته

في محفلٍ رحت حالي العين والأذن

When he speaks, captivating in an assembly

My eyes and ears are delighted by his state

كأن في الدست منه حين تنظره

شمس النهار وصوب العارض الهتن

As if when you look at his hands

There is the sun of daylight and to the sides of his forehead, allurement
