له إذا مال الكرى بالأعناق

Slender in build, sweet in character,

When he turns his neck,

حجلٌ صموت ونطاق نطاق

والله لو عيشٌ صفا لي أو راق

A young camel, silent and girt.

By God, even if I lived a pleasant, agreeable life,

ما قلت من أجل غصون تشتاق

لها من الجعد الأثيث أوراق

I would not, for the sake of branches that yearn,

With soft, luxuriant leaves,

هل من طيبٍ لسقامي أو راق
