If I hear a tale of you, my heart pounds

And harbors no calm though feigning composure

Bravely enduring heat brings no forgetfulness

Were he to see his blood congealing on the ground

I hope the best of what they've said, some life yet

And when your friend is mourned, mourning consoles

I ask all passersby, have you had any news?

If he were dead, the shepherd’s flock would wander

I accept and content myself with lies of hope

What harm to prolong my wistful yearning?

My face once showed me base and lacking

Weak and inadequate in my own eyes

Woe to his tricks and schemes if one were to race

In his footsteps when he's long passed from this life
