I blame the times for those who disparage me,

For they have ridden it recklessly unguided.

I saw it had an ambition that inspired

Raising a long spear and drawing a short sword.

We were as lions in battle

That swoop down on the breastplates of foes.

When we surpassed the judgment of fate,

We left its passion for us a prince.

You left your accoutrements—they can only

    Moan and sigh now.

They saw you before the swords were even drawn,

And their skulls almost took flight.

You travelled from their land in a caravan,

And left death behind attendance there.

If rain could find a supporter

It would vie with you for grave affair.

It makes small the dew and fate before you

And outpaces you if you desire to ride.
