أنسيةٌ في مثالِ الجنِ تَحْسَبُهَا
شَمساً بدتْ بين تَشريقٍ وتَغميمِ
A human maiden in the likeness of the jinn—you would deem her
a sun appearing between radiant brightness and clouded gloom.
شَقَّتْ لها الشمسُ ثوباً من محاسنِها
فالوجهُ للشمسِوالعينانِ للريمِ
The sun tailored her a robe from its own beauties:
thus the face is the sun’s, and the two eyes the gazelle’s.
