وكأَنَّه في حِجرها ولدٌ لها
تحنو عليهِ عند كلِّ أَوانِ
And in her lap he seems a child of her own;
she bends tenderly over him at every moment,
أَبداً تدغدِغُ بطنَه فاذا هفا
عركتْ له أُذناً مِنَ الاذانِ
forever tickling his belly; whenever he falters,
she gives one of his many ears a twist.
