1. أَبلغا عنِّي الوزيرَ الذي لي

    سَ له في كَمالهِ من عَديلِ

    Convey on my behalf to the minister who is mine

    None can match his perfection and grace

  2. جُنَّتي في الخُطوبِ من كل رَيبٍ

    وخليلي من دون كل خليلِ

    My heart is free of all worries and doubts

    And my companion is without equal

  3. انني لو أَشاءُ قارعت غَرْبي

    كَ بسيفِ المَلامَةِ المَسْلُولِ

    If I wished, I could change my fortune

    With the unsheathed sword of blame

  4. أَنفاً أَنْ تكون للدهرِ طوعاً

    أَو جنيباً له بكلِّ سَبيلِ

    I refuse to surrender to fate

    Or be compliant in all ways

  5. ولَعمري للبنتُ أَصْبَثُ للقَلْ

    بِ وأَدنى الى نَوالِ البَخِيلِ

    By my life, I yearn for the daughter of nobility

    And aspire for the favor of the stingy

  6. قاتلَ اللهُ قربها ما أَلذَّ ال

    لَثْمَ منها وضَمَّةَ التقبيلِ

    Cursed be the proximity to her - how sweet

    Is the touch of her lips and the embrace of her kiss

  7. ما لها من هَوى النفوسِ وما صُبْ

    بَ عليها من رحمةِ وقَبولِ

    She captivates hearts and is blessed

    With mercy and acceptance

  8. لا كَمَنْ ماتَ في البناتِ ولا مث

    لُكَ للحادثِ المُلِمّ الجَليلِ

    Not like one who died from daughters

    Or succumbed to an immense calamity

  9. أللواتي يحفَظنَ عهدَكَ بالغَي

    بِ ويَرعينَ سِرَّ كلِّ خليلِ

    Those who keep your secret absent

    And safeguard the confidence of each lover

  10. واذا غِبْنَ عن سَقَامِكَ والبُرْ

    ءِ فمن للدلالِ والتَّعليلِ

    When you are absent due to illness or health

    Who then can empathize and console?

  11. لا عقوقُ البنين يُعْهَدُ فيهن

    نَ ولا جَفْوَةُ الأَبِ المَملولِ

    Unlike defiant sons or aloof fathers

    The daughters are always loving and loyal

  12. وثباتُ الآباءِ في سَلبِ الأب

    ناءِ عند اشتباهِها في الطُّولِ

    Fathers often disown their sons over petty disputes

    While the daughters remain obedient and faithful

  13. ولَهُنَّ الحظُّ الجزيلُ في الحُ

    قةِ والوجدِ والحنينِ الطويلِ

    The daughters deserve a generous share

    Of love, loyalty and lifelong devotion

  14. والزياراتُ للقُبورِ على البأ

    سِ وبُعدِ الرجاءِ والتَّأميلِ

    They frequently visit graves in grief

    With little hope and much longing

  15. ذلكَ الوصلُ لا سؤالُ المَغَاني

    ووقوفٌ على رسومِ الطُّلُولِ

    Such is their loyalty, not fleeting passions

    Or standing at the ruins of past lovers

  16. وانتظارُ الجييعِ أَنْ تعْقِبَ الدا

    رُ ولا السيرُ في طِلاب الحُمُولِ

    Awaiting the gatherings, not seeking fortunes

    Or traveling in quest of wealth

  17. ولهذا يُقالُ في المثلِ السا

    ئرِ ولا وَجْدَ فوقَ وجدِ الثَّكُولِ

    That's why it's said in the common phrase

    There is no devotion like a daughter's devotion

  18. يا ابنَ حَمْدٍ اذا غَزتكَ المُصِيبَا

    تُ فلا تَلقَها بحَدٍّ كَلِيلِ

    Oh son of Hamad, when faced with calamities

    Counter them with strength, not frailty

  19. واجعلِ الغايةَ التي يَنتهي الحز

    نُ اليها شكيمةً للغَلِيلِ

    Make forbearance your destination

    To find solace from anguish

  20. ومتى لم تذُدْ بوادرُ عيني

    كَ وأَعربتَ طُرقَها بالهُمُولِ

    If your eyes show no sign of tears

    And you conceal your sorrows stoically

  21. كنتَ للنائباتِ عوناً على ضي

    مكَ في طاعةِ البكا والعَويلِ

    You will be a consoling friend

    To those mourning in weeping and wailing

  22. هَبْكَ لا تملِكُ المنونَ أمَا تم

    لِكُ صلحاً عن نيلكَ المطلولِ

    Alas, death cannot be stopped - make peace, not war, your goal

    And patience your path to achieve your aims

  23. والى الصبر ما تَؤُولُ فيسلو

    كلُّ رُزءٍ ولا رَزَايَا العُقُولِ

    With time, all pain is soothed

    And the mind finds tranquility

  24. انَّما المرءُ من شبابِ الليالي

    ومشيبِ الأَيامِ في تَضليلِ

    Man is but a fleeting moment

    Between the darkness of night and morning's light

  25. هَمُّهُ في الغِنى يُقَنِّعُهُ من

    ه وجودُ الملبوسِ والمأكولِ

    In wealth, he finds contentment

    In food, clothing and the basics of life

  26. مالهُ مِنْ رياشهِ غيرَ ما يص

    حبُ في اللَّحْدِ من ثِيابِ جَميلِ

    All he takes to the grave

    Are the shrouds wrapping his fragile body

  27. فازَ من نَزَّهَ المطامعَ عنها

    واكتفَى من كثيرهَا بالقَلِيلِ

    Triumphant is he who curbs greed

    And is content with little wealth
