مَلكٌ كَسا الإِسلامَ مِن ذَبِّهِ
بُرْداً بتَدْبيجِ الظّبا مُعلمَا
A king who clothed Islam with his stabbing
With embroidered coats of mail, adorning,
مَن أَصبَحَ الشّامُ بِهِ شامَةً
يَقطُرُ مِن قَتلِ عِداه دَما
The one by whom Syria in the morning
Became fragrant, his blood of enemies dripping,
لَوْ لَمْ يَقُم مُنْصَلِتاً دونَهُ
لَم نَلْقَ في أَقطارِها مُسلِما
Had he not stood in prayer lines before him
No Muslim in its regions would be living.
